Beverley-based charity scoops national Community Impact Award!

A North Yorkshire charity set up by a caring mother in her local community has received national recognition following a Charity Today Awards nomination.

Claire Raper from Beverley, established the charity to help relieve poverty and offer support to disadvantaged families who have found themselves in need, by providing clothing, toiletries, nappies, toys, prams, cots and other essential baby equipment.

Speaking to Charity Today News, Claire said: “Bundles of Joy started out as just a small idea, I never expected the community to get behind it as strongly as they have, I’m overwhelmed by the support I’m receiving.”

Bundles of Joy were this week presented with their award by UK Charity Week founder Lee Rayment who is also the editor of Charity Today News. Rayment made a 240-mile round trip to visit Claire and her colleagues at their Beverley HQ.

Rayment said: “I take great pride in meeting people like Claire. You can see she is a dedicated mother herself and I find it very poignant that she helps others less fortunate than herself, so I congratulate her wholeheartedly for her efforts, and I hope the community continues to back her as they have up to now.”

The Charity Today Awards is a national charity awards programme that celebrates charities and individuals across the UK who go that extra mile for others.

Each month a category is put up live on the website and Twitter (@CharityAwards) for nominations, the judges then select the two finalists before putting them to the public vote.
