Big Give wins first ever Wealth for Good Award
BIG Give, the UK’s leading match funding charity, has announced that it has won the award for the UK’s best program in the charitable sector as part of the Wealth for Good Awards 2024 organised by WealthBriefing.
This is the first time Big Give has participated in the WealthBriefing Awards and this is its inaugural success with the win in the category covering: Not-For-Profit, Foundations & Trusts – Initiative or Program (UK).
The annual awards recognise the most innovative and exceptional firms, teams and individuals spanning charities and corporates. The awards are designed to showcase outstanding organisations grouped by specialism and geography which the prestigious panel of independent judges deemed to have demonstrated innovation and excellence during the last year.
James Reed CBE, Chair of Trustees for Big Give, said:
“Big Give is pioneering philanthropy by empowering UHNW clients to amplify their charitable impact for the betterment of society. Our unique match funding approach encourages philanthropists to maximise their personal giving and build sustainability into their philanthropy. Big Give is not just a match funding charity – we are a generosity multiplier, helping to transform, innovate, and increase impact in the world of philanthropy.”
Big Give brings together large donors, like philanthropists, foundations, and businesses with the giving public and the charities who need them. For example, if someone gives £100 through our campaigns, Big Give will match it with £100 from a larger donor who cares about the same cause, making everyone’s donation go much further.
In these challenging times, there is a tremendous need to support the vital life-changing work of charities. In a recent Charities Aid Foundation study, 81% of charities surveyed reported increased demand for their services, while fewer than 38% are confident that they can afford to meet that demand. Big Give creates impactful digital match funding solutions to address the pressing challenges facing charities in today’s society. With a proven model for multiplying generosity, Big Give has raised over £292m for thousands of charities since being founded in 2008, and it has the ambition to raise £1bn for good causes by 2030.
To achieve this, Big Give ran various match-funding campaigns throughout the year, including the UK’s biggest match-funded campaign, The Christmas Challenge, which raised £33m for 1,077 charities in 2023. It also partners with sector experts on other themed campaigns, such as its Green Match Fund for environmental charities run in partnership with Environmental Funders Network and its Arts for Impact campaign with New Philanthropy for Arts and Culture.
Stephen Harris, ClearView Financial Media’s CEO, and publisher of WealthBriefing, was first to extend his congratulations to all winners and highly commended companies.
He said:
“Every winning entrant has been subjected to a rigorous and independent judging process and should be rightly proud of the success they have achieved this year.
“This year we have seen a marked increase in entrants and interest in all our global awards programmes and the WealthBriefing Wealth for Good Awards is no exception. These awards give organisations and individuals the opportunity to clarify their strategic thinking, have it independently validated, be recognized internally and externally and to celebrate in style with their peers.
“I offer my congratulations and best wishes for the future to all winners and highly commended firms – they are all worthy recipients who join the prestigious list of wealth management professionals who form the global elite of WealthBriefing winners.”
