BLG Mind welcomes new ambassador
CRITICALLY acclaimed actor and writer, Cush Jumbo OBE has been announced as the first official Ambassador for mental health and dementia charity Bromley, Lewisham & Greenwich (BLG) Mind.
Perhaps best known for her role as Lucca Quinn in The Good Wife and The Good Fight, more recently Cush has been seen in Netflix’s adaptation of Harlan Coben’s New York Times bestselling novel, Stay Close, and in BritBox UK’s first original drama The Beast Must Die, opposite Jared Harris. She will next be seen in the new Apple TV+ thriller Criminal Record, opposite Peter Capaldi and will shortly be appearing opposite David Tennant in Macbeth at London’s Donmar Warehouse theatre.
In between her busy schedule, Lewisham-born Cush has had a long-standing relationship with BLG Mind. First visiting in 2021, she returned earlier this year to shine a light on parental mental health, a subject which is close to her heart. Cush enthralled the audience at BLG Mind’s annual event with her honesty, speaking of her experience managing a demanding career as a new parent and the difficulties in asking for help.
Her story resonated deeply with BLG Mind Chief Executive Ben Taylor who said:
“It just goes to show that whatever your life circumstances, being a parent can affect you in very similar ways.”
Cush’s new official role with BLG Mind is set to have a big impact. She will not only encourage others to speak out and seek help; but will also support the growth of BLG Mind, an independent charity that is keen to meet the growing need for mental health and dementia support.
Cush Jumbo OBE commented:
“I am so delighted and deeply privileged to support the amazing work that BLG Mind does through this new Ambassador role. Understanding mental health has never been more important than now and so I’m proud to lend my voice to an organisation that takes these issues so seriously and discusses them with such empathy.”
Ben Taylor, Chief Executive at BLG Mind commented:
“We are absolutely thrilled that the multi-talented Cush Jumbo has agreed to become BLG Mind’s first Ambassador. It has been so clear from her visits to us that she has a real affinity for and belief in the work that we do, in part informed by her own experiences. Having support from Cush will help us raise the profile of BLG Mind and encourage others to support our valuable services – we look forward to working with her in the months and years ahead.”
