Celebrating a great day for Dr Ted at Parkgate

SHOPPERS and employees at Parkgate Shopping Centre had a great day raising money for the Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity’s Dr Ted children’s appeal.

The popular retail park was one of 140 shopping centres across the UK taking part in the annual ‘One Great Day’ fundraising event in June to raise £446.81 for Dr Ted and an equal amount for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.

Janet Drury, Parkgate’s centre manager, said: “We were absolutely delighted to be part of One Great Day events again this year and it’s something which I know all the tenants look forward to. It’s a great opportunity to have some fun raising money for children who are cared for nationally by the NHS and locally at Rotherham Hospital.

“It was a great atmosphere as usual at Parkgate and we’re really proud to have raised so much money. Thank you to all our customers who supported us.”

Dr Ted’s children’s appeal raises money to fund everything from toys to specialist medical equipment and resources for The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust to help provide Rotherham’s youngest and most vulnerable patients, and their families, have the best experience of being in hospital as possible.

George Briggs, Chief Operating Officer at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, told Charity Today:

“We’re incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated fundraisers and to see everyone at Parkgate coming together to raise money for two such great causes is amazing.

“All the money raised for Dr Ted will help the Charity to raise smiles amongst our youngest patients at Rotherham Hospital and make their visit as comfortable and stress free as possible.”

One Great Day was established in 2014 and has so far raised more than £400,000 for 93 different children’s charities along with Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. One Great Day events now take place in more than 46 million square feet of retail space across the UK, from Folkestone to Aberdeen and nearly everywhere in-between!

Michal Noe, Trustee of One Great Day, said: “We were thrilled to have Parkgate as one of 140 shopping centres taking part this year, helping so many children’s health charities across the country. We are also very grateful to CBRE, Montague Evans and Savills, our official corporate partners, for making this initiative possible.”
