Celebrating Sir Rod Stewart’s 78th Birthday and His Dedication to Charity

On January 10th, rock icon Sir Rod Stewart will celebrate his 78th birthday. With his distinctive raspy singing voice, Stewart is among the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold over 250 million records worldwide.

His unique blend of rock, folk, and soul has garnered him legions of devoted fans, and his contributions to the music industry have earned him numerous awards and accolades.

But Sir Rod is not just a talented musician – he is also a philanthropist who has dedicated much of his life and resources to giving back.

Sadly, life has not been so giving to Sir Rod of late. The music icon recently lost his brothers, Don and Robert ‘Bob’.

Bob died in November, a day before his 88th birthday and only two months after the loss of Don.

Bob loved travelling to watch Rangers football games in Scotland and was one of Sir Rod’s best mates.

On his Instagram page, Sir Rod noted: ‘I said Farewell to my Brother Bob today, with his coffin draped in a Rangers flag (life-long Glasgow Rangers fan). We loved our game days up in Scotland together. Now he joins Brother Don, rest in peace boys. Two of my best mates gone within just a few months.’

Bob was buried at Islington Burial Chapel last Friday.

Sir Rod’s eldest brother, Don Stewart, died in September aged 94, just two days before Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II died.

But Sir Rod knows the years have been good to him, and he has always used his fame and fortune to support numerous charitable and good causes.

Sir Rod has headlined many charity gigs and fundraising balls throughout his career. Recently, Sir Rod surprised a Brighton barber and singer to thank him for raising £14,000 for charity. The touching gesture from the British rock legend was shown during an episode of The One Show.

In recent years, Sir Rod’s charitable focus has become a little more direct due to his own health scares following his diagnosis of thyroid cancer (2000) and later prostate cancer (2019). It all opened his eyes to the preciousness of life, and Stewart has now devoted much of his time to helping publicise the various fights against cancer and help those who are not as fortunate as he was.

More recently, the Maggie May rocker has also shown his caring nature by renting a home for a family of seven fleeing from the ongoing Russian war. Despite saying he usually keeps ‘all my charitable efforts nice and quiet,’ he publicised this hoping to inspire others to help.

So, as Sir Rod celebrates his 78th birthday, it is clear that he is not just a talented musician but also a kind and generous individual who has made a positive impact on the world.
