Charity asks supporters to wear yellow for seriously ill children

RAYS of Sunshine, the charity which grants wishes to seriously ill children in the UK, is asking supporters to wear yellow, shine and donate on 21st June, the summer solstice.

Ray for a Day, the charity’s flagship fundraiser, is now in its sixth year and it is simpler than ever to take part.

Whether you put together an all-yellow ensemble, or simply opt for yellow socks, wear your yellow with pride and donate £2 to Rays of Sunshine on 21st June.

By becoming a Ray for a Day and donating to Rays of Sunshine, you will help grant more magical wishes for children like Grishma, who was just two years old when she was diagnosed with Langerhans’ cell histiocytosis. Her illness meant she had to spend a lot of time in hospital, and was unable to play like other children her age.

That’s when she was referred to Rays of Sunshine for a wish, and being a huge Peppa Pig fan, she asked for a trip to Peppa Pig Word and a Peppa Pig bike. The Rays of Sunshine Wish Granter team went the extra mile by having Princess Elsa from Frozen, another one of Grishma’s favourites, deliver the new bike to her home.

Grishma’s mum, Geeta, said:

“We were so excited when we found out Grishma’s wish would be fulfilled because it gave her more reason to play and have fun like she should as a little girl.

“Rays of Sunshine fulfilled Grishma’s every wish. It was so heart-warming to see how excited she was when Elsa knocked on our door, she was literally dancing with joy. These are memories that we all still treasure today as a family.”

Cheryl Tissot, Chief Executive at Rays of Sunshine, said:

“We hope people across the UK join us for Ray for a Day, on the longest day of the year, and help make the world a brighter place for seriously ill children and their families.

“Wear yellow and shine wherever you choose – at school, the office, the gym, or even at home – it’s up to you. Taking part and the money raised will help us to grant more magical wishes as unique as the children themselves”
