City Year UK appoints new Chief Executive

KEVIN Munday has this week been unveiled as the new Chief Executive of youth social action charity City Year UK.

Kevin, who will start work with City Year UK from September joins from the charity ThinkForward. As the founding Chief Executive he developed their breakthrough programme coaching the most disengaged young people to succeed in education and progress into sustained employment.

City Year UK’s chair Jonathan Beebe said: “We are delighted to welcome Kevin to City Year UK. With his passion and experience within the youth, education and schools sectors, he brings considerable strategic insight, energy and ambition at a pivotal moment for City Year UK. With his leadership, we are confident that Kevin will help us succeed in our collective ambition to help transform the lives of thousands of children and young people across the UK.”

Commenting on his new role, Kevin said: “I am attracted by the opportunity to help the most disadvantaged schools and support young people close the achievement gap in our education system, whilst also developing City Year’s youth volunteers as leaders and role models.  In addition to growing the impact of the current programme, I look forward to leading advocacy work on the power of full-time youth social action

ThinkForward’s chair Charlie Green says: “Kevin has been responsible for building ThinkForward from what was a concept seven years ago into a national charity that has helped over 2,000 young people in the transition from school to work.  Although we will miss Kevin greatly, this is a great opportunity for him to progress his own career.”

ThinkForward are working with Prospectus on the recruitment of a new CEO and Kevin will continue part-time as their CEO until a successor is in post.
