Comedian Rob Deering to host NSPCC Laughter Ball

COMEDIAN Rob Deering has been revealed as the host of this year’s NSPCC Laughter Ball in Birmingham.

Rob, whose tours and appearances on TV and radio have won him a dedicated following, will compere the event on November 2 at the ICC.

Last year’s ball raised £57,000 for the NSPCC’s vital work keeping children safe from abuse in Birmingham and across the country.

Rob, who performs stand-up with a guitar and loops pedal, said: “The NSPCC is a fantastic charity that does vital work for children in Birmingham and across the Midlands.

“Their dedicated staff and volunteers really are there for every child, and I am delighted to host the Laughter Ball in Birmingham to show my support.

“I’m looking forward to having a great night and lots of laughs with the local companies of the Midlands for such a great cause.”

The NSPCC’s fundraising team is planning a night of entertainment, food and dancing to raise cash for the UK’s leading children’s charity.

Jazz duo Lady and the Sax will perform during dinner, while Birmingham band Soul City Edison will take to the stage after the meal.

Previous events, hosted by Jasper Carrott and Heart West Midlands breakfast presenter Ed James, have seen businesses taking part in auctions and competitions to out-do each other with donations.

NSPCC Community Fundraising Manager Amanda Synnott said: “Rob’s a really funny guy and he will be a great host of an event that’s become a highlight of the NSPCC’s fundraising calendar.

“I’m sure he will be a hit with the audience, and I’d urge businesses across the region to come and join us for a night to remember.”

For more information or tickets for the ball, which starts at 6.30pm, please contact the NSPCC Midlands Fundraising team on 0121 227 7578 or midlandsappeals@nspcc.org.uk.
