SPAR store operator Blakemore Retail has raised more than £3 million over the last decade to help the NSPCC make a difference to 800,000 children’s lives.
The money raised by Blakemore Retail employees is currently used to support the NSPCC’s School Service, which visits primary schools across the country to deliver the charity’s ‘Speak Out. Stay Safe’ programme.
‘Speak Out. Stay Safe’ has been created by the NSPCC to teach children about abuse in an age appropriate way, and also to advise on what they should do if anything worries them.
As one of the charity’s longest standing partners, Blakemore Retail has previously supported other NSPCC services, including Childline and the Helpline.
Blakemore Retail employees have never been short of inventive ways to raise funds with a team of staff distance running between several of its SPAR stores, whilst others took on the challenge of climbing Mount Snowdon.
One staff member even organised an online pigeon auction, with pigeon fanciers raising more than £3,200 before the final gavel fell.
Alizée Moreau, NSPCC Fundraiser said: “We’re thrilled Blakemore Retail has reached this monetary milestone in their tenth year supporting the NSPCC.
“Funds raised by Blakemore Retail employees help us to visit more children in primary schools across the country and advise them how to stay safe from abuse.
“We would like to thank their employees for their dedication to fundraising over the past decade and we look forward to seeing more of their creative ideas come to life in the future.”
Blakemore Retail Managing Director Stuart Adkin commented: “I am delighted that we have raised over £3 million for the NSPCC as the work it does really helps to change so many children’s lives for the better.
“Our staff and customers are passionate about fundraising for the NSPCC and we are all so proud to be part of an organisation that puts social responsibility high on the agenda”
