Core Telecom Empowers UK Charities with Free 03 Numbers and Nationwide Support

CORE Telecom, a Leeds-based telecommunication company, isn’t just about connecting people. They’re firm believers in the power of connection for the greater good. Led by the philanthropic CEO, Mahmood Mazhar, Core Telecom has built a unique initiative that empowers charities, housing associations, and non-profit organisations across the UK.

Making a Difference, One Call at a Time

Mahmood’s philosophy is simple: ‘Charity begins at home.’ This belief sparked an initiative where Core Telecom donates and hosts 03 numbers waiving all incoming call charges for charities, housing associations and non-profit organisations. The motivation? To free up much-needed resources. Every penny saved on telecommunication expenses translates into more funds dedicated to their core missions. The program has helped organisations save over £20,000 in telecommunication expenses.

What began as a local effort to support Leeds charities has blossomed into a nationwide impact. Today, over 500 organisations benefit from Core Telecom’s program, including renowned names like Mind, Breast Cancer Now, and The Childhood Trust. This positive impact extends beyond cost savings. Core Telecom is known for its exceptional service, ensuring charities have reliable and efficient communication channels.

As an employee from Fight Bladder Cancer mentioned:

“This (number) has greatly enhanced our ability to offer timely support and information to those affected by bladder cancer. We can now focus more on our advocacy, patient support, and fundraising efforts, knowing that our telecommunication needs are efficiently managed and cost-effective. Thank you, Core Telecom, for your support and partnership in our mission to end bladder cancer.”

A Philanthropic Leader with a Global Reach

Mahmood’s commitment to social responsibility goes beyond Core Telecom’s core initiative. In 2016, he made a heartwarming contribution by donating a ‘Sunshine Coach’ worth £20,000 to The Forest School in Knaresborough. This specialised vehicle provided much-needed transportation for children with disabilities.

His concern extends to the global community as well. In 2023, when a devastating earthquake struck Turkey and Syria, Mahmood stepped forward with a significant £10,000 donation to aid relief efforts.

Local Harmony

Mahmood is deeply committed to his community in Yorkshire. This passion is evident by Core Telecom’s headline sponsorship at the Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards worth £20,000 in the last two years for awards that recognize the achievements of young people in Yorkshire who have overcome adversity.

Another Yorkshire gem is Wakefield Hospice, a charity that provides care for people with life-limiting illnesses. In recognition of their great work, Core Telecom named them Charity of the Year, donating £10,000.

Recognition for Outstanding Efforts

Core Telecom’s commitment to social good hasn’t gone unnoticed. Their dedication earned them a coveted spot among the finalists for Charitable Business of the Year at The Yorkshire Choice Awards in early 2024. This prestigious recognition highlights the significant impact they have made in the region.
