Donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Trust will be doubled via the Big Give
THE Multiple Sclerosis Trust (MS Trust) are taking part in the Christmas Challenge to raise £14,276 in just one week! This money will be used to continue funding vital information and health professionals programmes.
Any gift made through the MS Trust Big Give donation form will be matched, £1 for £1, by generous donors and the Big Give. This is the perfect opportunity to double the impact you have on the lives of people with MS at no additional cost.
In the last year alone, MS Trust information has helped a staggering 827,000 people with questions about multiple sclerosis. MS is a complicated condition, affecting everyone differently. Among the chaos of often conflicting and sometimes dangerous information on the internet, the MS Trust provides a single source of reliable, trusted, and expert information. The helpline team are always a friendly and knowledgeable source of help over the phone, through social media, and by email.
8 out of 10 people with MS live in an area with an unsustainable caseload for MS health services. MS Trust is addressing this with unique programmes that fund new MS nurses and specialist Advanced MS Champions into the NHS, providing care where it is desperately needed. Health professionals funded by past donations currently care for 3,612 people with multiple sclerosis.
Donations to the MS Trust will be generously matched by The Big Give’s Champions during the campaign, meaning your money can support twice as many people with multiple sclerosis.
Julie, MS Trust Supporter said:
“The MS Trust is a fantastic charity who have helped me so much. They help fund MS nurses who have guided me through MS for over 30 years. There’s always someone to talk to about new symptoms, ongoing ones, or direct me to people who can help.”
Lucy Taylor, Director of Fundraising and Marketing, MS Trust said:
“We had fantastic success when taking part in the Big Give for the first time last year, but this year we’re looking to go even further for people with MS and raise a total of £28,552! We have £14,276 currently sitting in a matching pot from generous pledgers and Big Give Champions, but in order to access that we need to match it, by raising £14,276 in online donations. We hope everyone will give generously this year to help us reach our target and enable us to be there for as many people with MS as possible.”

Multiple sclerosis is a condition that affects the nerves in the brain and spinal cord. 130 people are diagnosed with multiple sclerosis every week in the UK. That’s one person every two hours. It is a lifelong condition, usually diagnosed in people in their 20s and 30s, and can cause a wide variety of symptoms, including eyesight problems, fatigue, balance problems, altered sensations and cognitive issues. Public Health England estimates that over 130,000 people in the UK live with MS and it affects around three times as many women as men. There is a wide range of disease-modifying therapies available, but there is currently no cure.
MS Trust is here for people with MS today, tomorrow and every day after that. They fight to make sure everyone affected by MS can access good quality, specialist care and live the best life they possibly can. They support and train MS health professionals and fund MS specialist nurses and Advanced MS Champions across the UK. They produce practical, evidence-based information, online and in print, and their dedicated Enquiry Service and helpline team are a friendly and knowledgeable voice to speak to for anyone who needs to know more about MS.
