Essex Scout Group supported by local community fund donation

LOCAL housebuilder Redrow Eastern presented 1st Silver End Scout Group with a £500 donation to help the group create a safe space to empower the younger generation and support their personal development. The donation is part of Redrow Eastern’s Community Fund, which is currently distributing more than £12,000 worth of donations throughout the community.

Run by volunteers, 1st Silver End Scouts was formed in 1928 and now has 138 youth members across their four clubs. The Scout section is open to children aged 10-14 years old, both girls and boys from any background and faith.

Due to the cost-of-living crisis, many families have to be selective on the activities they sign their children up for, and the donation from Redrow’s Eastern division will ensure that Silver End Scout Group can continue to offer a variety of activities to children and help keep costs down for families.

The camp is offering its main summer camp in 2025 to Czechia, a week filled with activities for the children to get involved in. Due to the cost, the camp is also offering a shorter, five-day camp to Buckinghamshire in April. The donation from Redrow will help contribute towards reducing the price of tickets for the children, so all the children can enjoy one of the camps in 2025. For many of the children, this will be their first time away from home without their parents, enabling them to build their confidence and boost their social skills.

Dan Sutton, Scout Leader of 1st Silver End Scouts, said:

“It is very important to us to support young people and ensure they all get the opportunity to take part in new adventures and activities in a fun and safe environment. The children are all very excited about our trips planned for 2025!

“On behalf of everyone at 1st Silver Scout, thank you to Redrow Eastern for their generous donation, and we look forward to working together in the future.”

Redrow Eastern’s Community Fund launched this year to provide organisations, schools and groups at the heart of the community with donations to help them thrive. The housebuilder has also provided investment in the communities surrounding their developments through contributions toward education, healthcare, public transport and affordable housing.

Jody Bryant, Sales Director at Redrow Eastern, said:

“We are delighted to be able to support 1st Silver End Scouts through our Community Fund this year, and we hope they all enjoy their trips during summer next year!

“We are committed to creating thriving communities and supporting those around our developments in the local area.”

Redrow’s Eastern development has a range of energy-efficient homes available across their developments across the East of England including the Foxgloves located in Silver End.
