Family Fun Day For Fostered and Adopted Children

Family Fun Day For Fostered and Adopted Children

FOSTER carers, adopters and their children enjoyed a family fun day picnic in Purley, with Diagrama the not-for-profit agency. The event was attended by 50 foster carers and adopters and 50 children, plus some of the Diagrama team with their children.

The weather on the day was very pleasant and the children and adults enjoyed themselves with bouncy castles, a mini soft play, piggyback races and a pitch and putt competition.

For those that preferred not to be too energetic, there was face painting and temporary tattoos and the opportunity to do crafts, including jewellery making, or painting rocks and tracing leaves and twigs to create pictures.

There was also a competition to win a ‘Diagramasaurous’, a stuffed toy dinosaur. The children donated £1 to guess the toy’s name and all the money that was collected is being donated to a school in Kenya which cares for 300 children.

Kate Patel, Head of Fostering and Adoption, Diagrama Foundation said:

“At Diagrama we know how important it is for fostered and adopted children, foster carers and adopters to develop relationships, make friends and expand their network. Events like this give our team, our foster carers, adopters and the children we support a fun day out where they can develop new relationships and share their experiences.

“There is currently a national shortage of foster carers and a need for adopters for sibling groups and children with disabilities. The team at Diagrama is ready to talk to anyone who feels that they can offer a safe and secure home to a child or children. If this is you, I would encourage you to make a call or email us for an exploratory conversation.”
