Fundraising Regulator announces new Board Member

The Fundraising Regulator has announced the appointment of Kieron James as a Board Member for a term of 3 years. James will become an active Board Member on 18th July, when the Board next meets.

James brings a new area of expertise to the Board, having founded Wonderful Organisation, an online fundraising platform. Prior to this, James founded WHYPAY?, the free telephone conference service, and he has decades of experience in the IT sector.

The appointment represents the Regulator’s commitment to broadening the range of experience on its board and to drawing on varied fundraising expertise. Last week, the Regulator announced new rules to ensure the platforms meet the same levels of transparency required of other fundraising organisations.

Lord Grade, Chair of the Fundraising Regulator, said:

“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Kieron James. James’ experience and expertise will prove invaluable to the Fundraising Regulator as we aim to keep abreast of digital fundraising developments. We are committed to ethical fundraising that protects the donor, whether it takes place in-person, by phone or online.”

Speaking of his new role James said:

“I am delighted to join the Fundraising Regulator’s board. I have been greatly impressed by the Board’s commitment to understanding this new aspect of fundraising and I look forward to working closely with the sector to ensure that all fundraising is ethical and transparent.”
