James D’Arcy Announced as Ambassador for Smile Train

SMILE Train, the world’s largest cleft-focused charity, has announced that British actor James D’Arcy is now a Smile Train Ambassador. James will lend his support to raising the profile of Smile Train in the UK and their global vision of supporting life-changing cleft treatment for children in need.

Having recently been featured in Constellation (Apple TV) and the global blockbuster Oppenheimer, James is passionate about using his influential profile in the UK to support Smile Train’s work of changing the world one smile at a time.

James D’Arcy commented:

A cleft is a facial difference that occurs when a baby’s lip and/or mouth do not fuse together during pregnancy. Left untreated, those born with a cleft can suffer a lifetime of difficulties eating, hearing, speaking, and even breathing.

In the UK, cleft surgery is carried out within the first 12 months of a baby’s life by the NHS. Globally, hundreds of thousands of children in low-resource settings do not have access to the lifesaving cleft treatment they so desperately need.

Over the past 25 years, Smile Train has supported more than 1.9 million cleft surgeries and has trained 2,100+ medical professionals in more than 90 countries worldwide.
