Kent Community Foundation host event at Castle Farm Lavender Fields

GRANT makers Kent Community Foundation, who have awarded over £60 million to good causes over the last twenty-one years, hosted an event recently at Castle Farm Lavender Fields near Shoreham for some of their supporters, trustees and fund-holders.

At the thank you event, guests enjoyed canapes and drinks, surrounded by the beautiful scent of lavender. During the warm evening, guests heard from farm owner William Alexander, Chief Executive of Kent Community Foundation Josephine McCartney, poet and fund-holder Sarah Salway and Robert Sackville-West DL.

William Alexander talked about the history of the stunning venue, which his family has been farming since 1892. Well known in Kent, Castle Farm is the largest lavender farm in the UK and the guests saw the acres of lavender at its best.

Sarah Salway, who set up a  fund with Kent Community Foundation in 2006, described how using the expertise of the Foundation to direct her funding to Kent-based charities and community groups supporting vulnerable people, families and children, made the process of giving easy and joyful.

Josephine McCartney thanked fundholders for putting their trust in her team before Kent Community Foundation’s Chair of Trustees, Robert Sackville-West DL, thanked guests for their unwavering support and commitment, which makes a huge difference to the lives of thousands in communities across Kent and Medway.

Josephine McCartney, Chief Executive, of Kent Community Foundation said:

“Kent Community Foundation is responsible for over ninety philanthropic funds and we are indebted to our generous fundholders who provide financial support for hundreds of grassroots charities across the county. Last year we awarded over £4.9m to good causes and this evening gave us the opportunity to thank our fund-holders, trustees and friends for their continued support which makes such a huge difference to thousands of lives throughout Kent and Medway.”

Kent Community Foundation has been finding, funding, and supporting some of the smallest voluntary organisations in the county for over twenty-one years. Responsible for more than ninety philanthropic funds, Kent Community Foundation is unrivalled in its knowledge of local causes and assists individuals, families, and businesses, who want to help, to establish and administer their own charitable funds.
