Leukaemia & Myeloma Research UK invites people to support World Cord Blood Day 2018

Leukaemia & Myeloma Research UK invites people to support World Cord Blood Day 2018

THURSDAY 15th November is World Cord Blood Day which highlights the importance of cord blood and its benefits to treat over 80 different diseases, such as leukaemia, lymphoma and sickle cell anaemia.

To raise awareness of the benefits of cord blood and cord blood transplants, Leukaemia & Myeloma Research UK is organising a number of initiatives throughout World Cord Blood Day, and they need your help!

The charity was established to tackle cancer of the blood and specialises in stem cell therapy. Founded in 2015, it actively supports and raises awareness of stem cell research into blood cancers, and offers qualifying families a fully-funded stem cell storage service called the Model Cell Biobank.

Share your stories

On World Cord Blood Day, the charity will be sharing stories from people who have received cord blood transplants on the hour throughout the day to raise awareness of the benefits.

Do you have a story to share? Follow the team on Twitter @LMRUK_org and tweet your story, or Retweet to help spread the word!

#WCBDchat

On Thursday 15th November from 7pm – 8pm a Twitter chat will be hosted by the charity using the hashtag #WCBDchat.

Join the discussion to chat about cord blood banking, the uses of stem cells, and how they can be used to help treat diseases and conditions. Everyone is invited to join in!

Follow Leukaemia & Myeloma Research UK on Twitter @LMRUK_org and tweet using the hashtag #WCBDchat to share your thoughts on cord blood banking and stem cell therapies.

Get the Facebook frame

If you or a loved one has been affected by cancer of the blood, show your support by adding the Facebook frame to your profile photo.

A dedicated frame which people can add to their profile photo is being created – keep your eyes peeled on the charity’s Facebook page to find out how you can get the frame and encourage your friends and family to join in!
