Lifesaving charity honoured by West Midlands Ambulance Service

ARRIVE Alive was founded by Birmingham Mother, Debbie Roscoe following her youngest daughter’s life-threatening illness. The vision was to support both communities and the ambulance service which led to Arrive Alive becoming established.

Arrive Alive is the UK’s only registered charity of its kind solely dedicated to funding lifesaving voluntary operated vehicles and equipment for Community First Responder groups. The groups are formed of individuals based in communities who are volunteers trained, regulated & dispatched to 999 calls by West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Its founder Debbie Roscoe and the Arrive Alive team were awarded a Community Initiative and Partnership Award by West Midlands Ambulance Service, for the tremendous support that Arrive Alive has provided to communities across the Midlands and Worcestershire.

Debbie Roscoe, Arrive Alive said:

“Initially it was only going to be one or two vehicles that Arrive Alive funded, however following more individuals wanting to assist with saving lives within their communities more resources were needed. The Arrive Alive team have worked relentlessly to ensure more areas have been supported, we are now preparing for the launch of our eleventh vehicle. All of our vehicles are operated by medically trained volunteers and are dispatched to 999 calls by West Midlands Ambulance Service, all our vehicles are on the same radio system as a standard road ambulance. To be able to give something back of use to every member of a community is wonderful in addition to supporting the amazing work West Midlands Ambulance Service carries out.”

Arrive Alive is reliant on public funding to ensure it can continue to support communities with lifesaving voluntary operated 999 resources. So far a vast number of areas have been supported such as Birmingham, Solihull, Alcester, Dudley, Walsall, Cannock, Droitwich, Pershore, Evesham and North Warwickshire. There are still a large number of communities that still need support from Arrive Alive to ensure lives can be saved.
