Make a difference in 2023 by supporting Hywel Dda Health Charities

HYWEL Dda Health Charities has announced a range of events and fundraising ideas for 2023 as it looks forward to celebrating the NHS’s 75th birthday in style!

If you are still looking to make some New Year resolutions, the charity has got something to suit everyone, whether you’re sporty, simply like a cuppa, or are a downright thrill seeker.

Each of the charity’s planned events gives people the opportunity to support their NHS charity and help make a positive difference in the health, well-being and experience of NHS patients, service users and staff across the Hywel Dda University Health Board area. 

Here are a few ideas for fantastic New Year’s resolutions: 

I want to face my fears. You could take the leap and sign up to a skydive for your NHS charity. I want to be more active. You could run, swim or cycle at the Long Course Weekend! For the second year running, Hywel Dda Health Charities is the ‘Powered By partner for the Wales Half Marathon at the 2023 Long Course Weekend which is recognised as one of the best and most challenging races out there! This partnership offers our fundraisers free spaces in events across the whole Long Course Weekend Wales, including swimming, running and cycle events. I want to engage my local community. You could set up your own summer tea party for the NHS’ 75th birthday! It’s an excellent opportunity for communities to come together and pay tribute to brilliant staff and volunteers, who have gone above and beyond in recent years.

Looking for more inspiration? 

The charity has a pet competition in February where you can win prizes by sending in pictures of your animal companion; in April you could run the Newport Marathon for charity or in September the Llanelli Half Marathon. In May or October, you could take part in ‘Make a Will Month’; in August you could support the Wish Fund campaign. To get in the festive spirit, you could ‘Give a Gift’ in November or take part in Christmas Jumper Day in December.
