Marvin the moustache inspires more fundraising in future

GROWING marvellous ‘Marvin’ the moustache for Movember has inspired the boss of a Telford charity to embark on more fundraising escapades next year.

Wayne Jenson, CEO of Meeting Point Trust in Southwater, said taking part in Movember to raise funds and awareness of men’s health was an inspiring experience.

As well as growing the moustache, Wayne capped off the challenge by having it dyed in bright colours in front of staff and customers at the Hummingbird Cafe, in Meeting Point House.

He said:

“For me, doing Movember has been enlightening. Not since doing a sponsored swim in my childhood have I actively tried to raise money – like many, I have donated to good causes but never tried to raise money myself.

“Working for a charity, and with many other charities here at Meeting Point House, exposes me to all sorts of opportunities which I am grateful for and I am now taking suggestions for other fundraising activities in the future.

“Colouring ‘Marvin’ my moustache was great fun. Throughout the day I forgot it had been done and occasionally I noticed people staring and wondered why?

“I am definitely keen to do it again next year with a bigger and bolder statement.  This year my target was £250 and I have so far raised £264, which I am delighted with. Next year I am aiming for at least £500.”

People can continue to donate at https://movember.com/m/15306616?mc=5 or pop into Meeting Point House to make a cash donation.

Meeting Point House, in Southwater next to Telford Shopping Centre, is home to a number of charities, community groups and meeting facilities, as well as the Hummingbird Cafe.
