Moorfields Eye Charity’s sight awareness campaign on tube and radio

MOORFIELDS Eye Charity has launched a campaign about the importance of research and innovation in helping people with sight loss. Titled ‘tick tock’, it highlights how frequently people are starting to lose their sight in the UK. This is a widespread issue which could affect people close to us – friends, family or colleagues.

Working with creative agency, Red Stone, they have developed the ‘tick tock’ campaign which will resonate with people of all ages. It has been shown on posters and escalator panels at Old Street tube station, radio networks and Spotify for four weeks, as well as on social media channels.

Every six minutes someone in the UK starts to lose their sight. More than two million people are estimated to be living with sight loss in the UK and it is predicted that by 2050 the number of people with sight loss in the UK will double to over four million.

Moorfields Eye Charity is a leading eye health charity in the UK dedicated to the funding of research and innovation. It supports Moorfields Eye Hospital and the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, investing in breakthroughs which are speeding up diagnoses and bringing new treatments to patients.

As a partner in Oriel, the new world-leading eye centre opening in St Pancras in 2027 and being made possible by philanthropy, Moorfields Eye Charity are helping to bring new discoveries quicker than ever before to patients in the UK and globally.

Robert Dufton, chief executive, of Moorfields Eye Charity said:

“This is an opportunity for Moorfields Eye Charity to spread the word to many more people that sight loss could happen to anyone, and the more we can do to support world-leading researchers and innovators at Moorfields and UCL, this will transform the lives of people with sight loss.”

The charity wants to make more people aware of the impact of research and innovation and how it can help save people’s sight. None of this would be possible without their supporters who are enabling them to invest in the groundbreaking work at Moorfields and UCL.
