New CEO appointed at The Mayor’s Fund for London

SOCIAL mobility charity, the Mayor’s Fund for London, has today announced the appointment of Kirsty McHugh as its new Chief Executive, effective 1 January 2019.

Kirsty will be joining the Fund at a pivotal time, leading a review of the Fund’s strategy, building on the success of existing initiatives and working with partners to leverage the resources of the city to support young people.

Kirsty McHugh

Kirsty is currently Chief Executive of the Employment Related Services Association (ERSA), the national membership body for providers of employability support. Prior to ERSA, Kirsty spent over eight years at Business in the Community, where she was Director of Partnerships and then Director of Regeneration. Her experience includes running the largest employee volunteering programme in the UK, a pro bono network of 1000 professional firms, plus running programmes in some of the most deprived parts of the country. Kirsty has also recently sat on a Big Lottery Fund panel for the national Building Better Opportunities programme, works with the social investor, Impetus-Private Equity Foundation, and is also a board director of a local housing association in East London.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, the charity’s patron, said:

“I am pleased that Kirsty McHugh has agreed to become the new Chief Executive for the Mayor’s Fund for London. Kirsty brings a wealth of charity and voluntary sector experience to her new role and will ensure that the Fund continues to support disadvantaged young Londoners to achieve their full potential.”

About her appointment, Kirsty said:

“I am thrilled to be joining the Mayor’s Fund for London as Chief Executive. The Mayor’s Fund has achieved an incredible amount over the last ten years, helping many young Londoners benefit from our great city. However, it’s also clear that the scale of the challenge is vast and that through working with partners and with City Hall we can change even more lives.”

Chair of Trustees, Tim Roberts said:

“We are delighted to welcome Kirsty to the Mayor’s Fund for London. Having spent eight years at ERSA, Kirsty is an experienced chief executive, with extensive experience of working with employers, and she has great experience of achieving impact and influence, in tandem with fundraising. With a new CEO at the helm and strong backing from City Hall, we have an exciting future ahead.”
