Open day at Bernard Sunley to support Care Home Open Week 2023

To celebrate and support this year’s Care Home Open Week, Woking-based Bernard Sunley, the residential, nursing and dementia care home managed by charity Friends of the Elderly, will be hosting an Open Day on Monday 26th June to showcase the newly refurbished care home, its great facilities and wide range of inclusive activities.

Talking about the Open Day, Andy Cumper, the Registered Manager at Bernard Sunley said:

“Between 11am and 4.30pm on 26th June, we will be opening the doors to our newly refurbished care home and hosting a great interactive and inclusive open day.

“The Open Day will be the perfect opportunity for visitors to experience life at Bernard Sunley and see the care team in action as they deliver individualised bespoke, person-centred care to each resident and respite guest.”

The Open Day will include tours of the care home, its refurbished rooms and great facilities alongside a wide and varied activities programme.

Andy continued:

“During the morning, visitors can watch – or take part in flower arranging and an exercise class, then in the afternoon we will be serving a delicious BBQ in the garden, complete with a performing artist to keep everyone entertained.”

However, that’s not all. Throughout the day there will be various HCA-led activities taking place including arts and crafts classes, different inclusive games, and group sessions on Bernard Sunley’s interactive table which is a stimulating and engaging piece of technology for all residents, including those living with dementia; and behind the care home’s Smile’s Café, there will be a children’s soft play area.

In closing, Andy said:

“Keeping an eye on the day’s proceedings will be our very own canine Watch Dog, Jazz, who will – of course – be on duty all day.

“Hosting the Open Day is a great opportunity for everyone at Bernard Sunley to showcase what we offer, demonstrate our high standards of bespoke, individualised care, give visitors the chance to meet the care team, ask questions, find out more about our care home, see our fantastic facilities and take part in our inclusive and accessible activities.
