Opening date revealed for new hospice charity shop
A new John Taylor Hospice charity shop will officially open its doors in Wylde Green in November.
Situated at 370 Birmingham Road, the new store will open for business on Friday 9 November – boasting an array of high-quality clothing, books, DVDs, fashion accessories and homeware.
To celebrate the launch of the new shop hospice staff, supporters, volunteers, patients, families and local dignitaries are invited to attend a special unveiling event at 10 am on 9 November.
The new Sutton Coldfield branch is the second retail shop for John Taylor Hospice. “We opened our first charity shop in Erdington in May,” explained Retail and Business Development Manager Andrew Ray.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support of local communities who have donated items, shopped in the store and contributed their own time as retail volunteers.
“In our first three months of trading we served over 5,000 customers, and our volunteers contributed nearly 3,000 hours of their time – this is just incredible! We’re delighted to be opening our new store in Wylde Green and hope to announce that our third shop in Castle Bromwich will be trading in time for Christmas.
“We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has helped to make our shops such a success. Every £1 spent in our stores benefits local communities by ensuring we’re able to continue providing care and support for families at a time when they need us most.”
The hospice is appealing for donations – particularly items of winter clothing – that can be dropped off Monday to Friday between 10 am and 4 pm at the Wylde Green store at 370 Birmingham Road B72 1YH.
Volunteers are also welcomed to join the growing retail team, and more information can be found on the hospice’s website www.johntaylorhospice.org.uk
