Organisations are invited to take part in Heritage Treasures Day 2023
COMMUNITY groups, museums, parks, gardens, churches, historic buildings and other heritage organisations of all kinds are invited to join in this year’s Heritage Treasures Day on Wednesday 11 January to celebrate all that is wonderful in our heritage.
Heritage Treasures Day is a moment to share and celebrate inspiring projects and highlight rich and diverse heritage across the UK. Launched by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in 2017, it has grown each year – last year trending at number two on Twitter.
People can take part by using the hashtag #HeritageTreasures and tagging @HeritageFundUK.
Everyone is encouraged to post inspiring collection items, winter walks in much-loved parks, wildlife pictures, gargoyles on churches, favourite museums, or stories about local characters from history and more. Perhaps you’ve enjoyed some innovative heritage online such as pictures or podcasts, or the staff and volunteers at your venue are absolute treasures?
To mark the day, the Heritage Fund is also offering everyone the chance to download heritage virtual backgrounds for computers, screen savers and virtual calls.
They feature uplifting projects that we have supported with vital National Lottery funds including Leighton House, Pembroke Heritage Centre, Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings, Gainsborough House, The Flow Country, Canterbury Cathedral, and Hillsborough Castle.
