Oxford Half marathon runners raise funds for Oxfordshire Mind
RUNNERS in the Oxford Half recently raised more than £25,000 for Oxfordshire Mind.
More than 80 runners signed up to run on behalf of the mental health charity to boost awareness of its cause and raise funds to help it support the 10,000 people across the county who use its services.
This year’s Oxford Half saw a record 12,000 people enter the race which runs through the historic streets of the city.
Oxfordshire Mind revealed that its 85 runners have raised more than £25,000 which will help fund its programmes over the next year. Runners who took part on behalf of the charity included individuals, corporate teams, Oxfordshire Mind staff and people who have benefited from its services in the past.
Ian Nutt, Head of Development at Oxfordshire Mind said:
“We are so grateful to everyone who took part in the Oxford Half to raise funds on our behalf. The dedication our runners have shown to training, fundraising and running on the day has been extraordinary.
“The money raised is vital for the work we are across Oxfordshire to support people with their mental health. We work with over 10,000 people to provide a range of services, support networks, and a safe space to communicate for people across the county when they most need it.
“Most of us will struggle with our mental health at some stage in our lives. We are committed to being there to support when things do go wrong. The donations we have received go a long way in helping us fund the vital work we are doing in Oxfordshire and enable us to keep making a difference in people’s lives.
“We’d like to say an enormous thank you to everyone who took part and everyone who has donated so far. There is still a little bit of time left to give if you haven’t already so please do if you can!”
Through this fundraising push, Oxfordshire Mind will be able to continue to carry out its work in the local community and fund one of its local wellbeing hubs for over a month.
Oxfordshire Mind provides advice and support to anyone struggling with their mental health across the county. It provides a range of free well-being services to individuals as well as workplace training packages and consultancy for employers.
