Rare Xbox console sells for £7,700, raising vital funds for heart charity
An incredibly rare Xbox console, generously donated to the British Heart Foundation (BHF), has sold for an incredible £7,700. The unique gaming console was donated to the BHF shop in Oxford and listed on the charity’s eBay site.
The auction ended last weekend and after 62 bids, it sold for an incredible £7,700.
The Pepsi Hulk Console, of which only 36 were available, was released in 2003 when halter tops were all the rage and Beyonce’s Crazy in Love was number one in the charts. Paul Smith, a passionate gamer and function tester at the British Heart Foundation’s eBay HQ, spotted the bright green colour of the console and knew it was something special.
He said:
“I’m a games enthusiast myself and the rare green colour combined with the Hulk and Pepsi logo really stood out.”
Money from the sale of the Xbox console will go towards funding the British Heart Foundation’s life-saving research into heart and circulatory diseases.
Richard Pallier, head of online retail at the British Heart Foundation, added:
“It’s very exciting when a rare item like this gets generously donated to us. Our team of experts at our eBay HQ work hard to test and verify these unique pieces and realise their best value to ensure they go to loving new homes.
“Even if you’re not in the market for a rare gaming console, we’re the biggest charity retailer globally on eBay, selling over 440,000 items on there every year. From shoes to sofas, designer to vintage, collectables to the high street, shop from the comfort of your own home and know that all your shopping helps fund our life-saving research.”
