RBC Race for the Kids returns to Hyde Park

RBC Race for the Kids is returning to Hyde Park on 7 October. The event will raise money to help drive transformation in children’s cancer care with a new Children’s Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) as part of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity’s (GOSH Charity) Build it. Beat it. appeal.

Supporters and families of all ages and abilities are invited to walk, jog wheel or scoot 5k around the Hyde Park route, with dogs, pushchairs, wheelchairs and scooters welcome. Entrants can race individually or as a team and will be rewarded for their efforts with a festival village providing music, entertainment, and refreshments throughout the day.

GOSH Charity will host the UK race for the 14th time as part of the global RBC Race for the Kids, a series of 25+ running events in support of children’s and youth charities around the world. To date, the series has attracted more than 360,000 participants worldwide who have collectively raised more than CAD$82million.

The money raised through this year’s RBC Race for the Kids will go towards GOSH Charity’s Build it. Beat it. appeal, a five-year campaign that will be raising money to help build a new Children’s Cancer Centre at GOSH to save more children’s lives. It will be the biggest appeal in GOSH Charity’s history.

GOSH Charity hopes to see fundraisers in their thousands at the iconic Royal Park, but for those living further afield or who are unable to travel on the day, supporters are encouraged to take part in RBC Race for the Kids at Home. Participants taking part virtually can pick a distance of their choice to complete in their local neighbourhood on 7 October, or with their school between 2-8 October. No matter how they sign up, supporters will be making a huge difference in supporting the five children and their families who are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK.

Adult registration for the in-person race is £21.50 until 28 September and children aged 15 and under can take part for free.

Every week, around five children in the UK, lose their lives to cancer. GOSH cares for children with the hardest-to-treat cancers, and conducts pioneering research to find the most effective treatments and cures, which give hope to children and their families.

Advances have outstripped GOSH’s current cancer care facilities, and the hospital needs a new Children’s Cancer Centre to create breakthrough therapies which will benefit children all over the world.
