Redcot hosts community Christmas Soirée for festive cheer
To keep the festive magic twinkling, the care team at Redcot, the Haslemere-based residential care home run by charity, Friends of the Elderly, is hosting its first Community Christmas Evening Soiree on Tuesday 17th December.
Staci Abernethy, Redcot’s Interim Manager said:
“As part of our ongoing commitment to, and our strong links with, our local community, we wanted to arrange a Yuletide community event. We thought that an elegant evening soiree would be the perfect choice and we are looking forward to welcoming many members of our community to Redcot on 17th December.”
Ann Essam, Redcot’s award-winning Activities Coordinator said:
“The residents have said it’s a wonderful excuse for them to get dressed up in their finery and enjoy a special pre-Christmas event with members of the Haslemere community.”
On Tuesday 17th December, Redcot’s Community Christmas Evening Soiree will begin at 7pm with a glass of bubbles upon arrival. Guests will be treated to a classical music and vocal performance by Violinist and Singer, Connie Chatwin.
Ann added:
“Guests will also be invited to join in with Christmas Carols around our beautiful Christmas Tree.
“During the Soiree we will also be serving delicious cheese and biscuits and tasty mince pies. Bringing our local community together with our residents, their families, friends and the Redcot Care Team for a festive, pre-Christmas Day get-together will be wonderful. It is important to all of us here at Redcot to create as many meaningful interactions as possible for our residents and to be able to host the Evening Soiree is something new for them all to enjoy.”
Joyce Douglas, who has been a resident at Redcot since February 2022 is especially looking forward to the event.
Joyce said:
“To see all our guests arrive in their Black Tie and Christmas evening attire will be fantastic. To be able to get dolled up for a Christmas ‘do’ and put on the glamour for the night is going to be brilliant.”
Ruth Dickson, who moved to Redcot in November 2022, is also excited about the night. Ruth added:
“To have our own Christmas Soiree is going to be joyous. Seeing everyone in their festive finery, singing Carols and listening to classical music is going to be magical and a great party. Not that we need an excuse to party, as everyone here loves a party.”
Ann concluded:
“I spend time talking with each resident, getting to know them, their likes and dislikes, what they enjoy and like to do. This helps me to make sure that everything I do for them is tailored to meet their individual needs and preferences. It also helps me to also get to know each resident on a deeper level.
“One thing the residents have in common is their love of a good party – meeting new people and chatting, seeing old friends and their families – so the Evening Soiree is something everyone is looking forward to. I think it will be a wonderful Christmas wonderland evening.”
Tickets for Redcot’s Community Christmas Evening Soiree are £3 per person.
