Stars raise vital funds at ‘World’s Greatest Quiz Night’
STARS from the world of television and broadcast attended a glamorous charity quiz night in London, on Tuesday 18th September 2018, that raised over £40,000 to support people with cancer, their carers and family.
Presenter Claudia Winkleman and comedian Jo Brand joined broadcasters David and Jonathan Dimbleby to host the annual World’s Greatest Quiz Night, this year held at the Riverside marquee at St Thomas’ Hospital, in Central London.
The event was organised in partnership with Quintessentially Foundation and Dimbleby Cancer Care with all money raised from the evening going towards the charity’s work providing practical and psychological support for those going through cancer and their carers and family, with its current focus this year on its recently launched online directory of support services www.cancercaremap.org.
Joining them on the evening were Quintessentially Foundation Chairman, Ben Elliot, Fashion designer, Patrick Grant, TV Presenter, Richard Arnold and Zac and Alice Goldsmith.
Jonathan Dimbleby, Chairman at Dimbleby Cancer Care said:
“It was another terrific evening with a great atmosphere. I am immensely grateful to all those who have helped us raise important funds for those living with cancer.”
Claudia Winkleman said:
“Tonight’s all about raising money for this brilliant cause. I was very excited to be back again hosting the event, alongside the wonderful Jo Brand.”
Attendees at the event enjoyed a champagne reception followed by six rounds of tough quiz questions compiled this year by the team behind the TV Show’s Pointless and The Weakest Link. There was also special video questions from celebrities Clare Balding, Sophie Raworth, Annette Badland and Simon Callow.
Jo Brand said:
“I’ve loved coming to the Dimbleby Quiz Night over the last few years, so it’s great to be on the stage this time – it’s much easier when you have all the answers in front of you. The work the charity does helps so many people, I’m very happy to help in any way I can and it’s such a fun night.”
Guests were also be treated to a classic Indian inspired menu and had the opportunity to bid for some incredible auction prizes including a day on the Dart with Broadcaster, Jonathan Dimbleby, a private polo lesson for four at Longdole private polo club with an experienced England player and a cookery course at Eton with Caroline Waldegrave.
