Surrey man walks over 100Km for prostate cancer

A Surrey resident has just walked 120Km in 4 days for The Prostate Project, raising almost £2,500 in the process.

Nigel Feltham, 63, completed the 4Days Marches in Nijmegen, Netherlands, for the 9th time this year in support of the charity which furthers prostate cancer research and testing across Surrey. Last year, when he also walked in support of The Prostate Project, he helped to fund the purchase of the charity’s innovative Man Van – a mobile PSA testing van which will facilitate greater access to testing in the community. This year’s donations are going towards the next stage of the van’s development which is to fund the specialised equipment to make it operational.

As a keen and prominent Freemason, Nigel’s previous 4Days Marches have supported the Surrey Freemasons Craft Festival (2019), The Alzheimer’s Society and The Stroke Association.

Having completed his first march in 1978 with the scouts, Nigel felt compelled to walk this year to continue to support the vital work being done by The Prostate Project in bringing awareness, testing, and world-leading research to a disease that claims a life every 45 minutes.

Martin Davies, Chairman of the Prostate Project, said:

“It is a source of great pride to everyone at the Prostate Project that wonderful people like Nigel continue to perform heroics on our behalf.

“To say that we are grateful to Nigel for his tremendous achievement is an understatement; the money and awareness that his efforts have raised will, quite simply, help to save and prolong the lives of men with prostate cancer.

“This is not the first time that Nigel has put his boots on for our charity, and I hope that he realises just how highly we respect, and admire his efforts. On behalf of the Prostate Project, I offer my sincerest thanks and heartiest congratulations.”
