The White Collar Fight Club set to host event to raise money for the NSPCC

THE NSPCC has launched a new boxing event partnership which will see amateurs take to the ring for the first time, in a bid to raise £120,000 in 12 months.
The collaboration, named The White Collar Fight Club, will host its first official event in aid of the children’s charity today.
In preparation for the fight, around 80 people with little or no experience in combat sports have been put through their paces by professional coaches as part of a eight-week training camp.
The White Collar Fight Club has already held two pilot events which raised around £44,000 for the NSPCC. It’s hoped that trend will continue.
Event organiser, Matt Thompson, has gone to every effort to ensure that the event is as memorable and successful as possible for all participants.
He said: “There are a lot of White Collar Boxing events out there, some good, some not so good. We wanted to create the very best White Collar Boxing experience London had to offer, from the training to the official weigh-in to the professional show and after show party. The feedback has been unbelievable so far with many fighters from our first two seasons coming back to fight again this year.”
When it came to which charity the event was to be in aid of, the NSPCC was a very worthy cause for them.
“We believe every child should have someone looking out for them, which is why we’re raising as much money as possible to help keep children safe from child abuse with the NSPCC.“
Maddison Hucks, NSPCC Community Fundraising Manager for London and South East of England, said: “I believe this event is appealing to a younger demographic as it’s a new kind of challenge. Fighters get to step out of their comfort zone and push their limits in a way that not only takes hard work but also a good pinch of bravery too; an added element that some traditional challenge events don’t have. The end result on fight night is also a real celebration of their efforts.”
“The money raised will go a long way in the fight for every childhood. We wish the contestants the best of luck and hope that the night will be as successful as possible for everyone involved.”
Tickets, which vary in price depending on which package you choose – can be bought from The White Collar Fight Club website: https://www.thewhitecollarfightclub.co.uk/tickets.
Elena Cresci, 28, is one of the fighters taking part in today’s event at The Troxy in Commercial Road, Limehouse.
Elena, a journalist from Haringey, North London, signed up to the event to help her cope with depression and anxiety.
She added: “I wanted something I could focus on. When it comes to going to the gym, I get anxious. I want to be fit and healthy but I am terrified of looking like I am doing it wrong. Going into an eight-week boxing camp, of course I knew I wasn’t going to be very good at the start, but it gave me an end goal to get through it.”
