Three dads to climb three mountains to raise money for children’s brain tumour charity
THREE dads from Ely will be climbing three mountains to raise money for a children’s brain tumour charity.
Matt Plummer, Bill Mansfield and Graeme Allott will be hiking the highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours as part of the Three Peaks Challenge, to raise vital funds for Tom’s Trust.
Setting off on Sunday 14th May, the Three Peaks Challenge will start at Ben Nevis in Scotland, then the group will move on to Scafell Pike in England, and finally to Mount Snowdon in Wales.
The charity provides mental health, well-being and psychological support to children with brain tumours and their families across the UK. The group are hoping to raise £1,300 – enough to fund one child’s care, as well as their family’s, for a whole year following a devastating brain tumour diagnosis.
Matt, who works for Cocoon Architects based in Ely, Cambs, said:
“With psychologists as friends, our group know how life-altering a diagnosis is. Providing such support from the earliest stages will allow children and their families the best chance of processing and reflecting on this next stage, to help make what comes next as positive as possible. We’re very excited to take on this challenge.”
Debs Mitchell, Co-Founder of Tom’s Trust said:
“Thanks to the tireless fundraising efforts from people like Matt, Bill and Graeme holding events like this, we are able to continue to provide essential psychological support to children with brain tumours and their families.
“Everyone at Tom’s Trust is really excited to support their Three Peaks Challenge fundraiser. This will be a great event and all the money raised will make a huge difference to the work we do.”
