Vero launches new ‘Donate Now’ initiative for charities

Vero has announced their latest initiative entitled – Donate Now.

Vero – the app founded in 2015 and with over 4 million users – saw an opportunity to close the loop and in turn revolutionise the charity sector from a third party perspective. Through its partnerships, Vero enables its users to be socially conscious by utilising the app to donate easily to charities of their choosing – should they wish to do so – via one-click ApplePay or credit card payments. Vero is essentially taking the world of philanthropy in-app, and putting it at the fingertips of its users. Making giving back easier and more social than ever before.

The charities Vero have partnered with so far include:

  • American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
  • amfAR
  • Children with Cancer UK

With more being announced in the coming weeks. When it comes to philanthropy and social media, the latter has done a great job at raising awareness and helping to coordinate action (e.g. Women’s March, Times Up, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge etc), but it often falls short on actually converting awareness into actual fundraising.

Vero does not charge a fee on any donations made via Donate Now – the entire sum you donate (minus any card charges from card payment providers) is sent directly to the charity.

Vero is also an app that specifically partners with creative communities, from music, film, arts and culture via various events and activations. As a recent example, Vero partnered with Letters Live for their Los Angeles debut and will soon sell off the signed script flow from the night as a one off piece of memorabilia, with all proceeds from the sale going to Women for Women & 826LA.

The Donate Now campaign is also a way of empowering and harnessing the power of these communities to act as they would in the reality, allowing users to rally together and lobby for the changes they wish to see in the world, the lives of themselves and others. Vero is also the first social network to proactively encourage its users to address digital addiction, switch off from the app and enjoy real life. Users are able to view app usage information in their settings to keep track of time spent in-app, to ensure users are adding value to their lives instead of detracting from it.
