Voluntary Action Leicester seeks a new Chief Executive

Regional charity Voluntary Action Leicester (VAL) is on the hunt for a new Chief Executive to lead the organisation into a new era. With a 50-year track record of “Helping People Change Their Lives for the Better”, VAL seeks a leader with passion, energy, vision and commitment to take the reins of this thriving organisation.

The ideal candidate will possess sound strategic vision, a strong track record in delivering strategic objectives to budget, and experience in leading teams through change and transformation, together with a proven track record in income generation. Working closely with the Trustee Board, the Chief Executive will deliver the Board’s strategic priorities, and support with setting VAL’s strategic direction through sound governance, disciplined delivery, and value services.

The successful candidate will be an ambassador for VAL, strengthening existing and developing new sustainable relationships, brokering strategic partnerships and collaborations with multiple internal and external funders, commissioners, members and stakeholders.

VAL is open to candidates from various backgrounds, whether they are already a CEO or senior manager ready to take the next step in leading an organisation for the first time. The Chief Executive must have at least five years of established senior management experience in the development, implementation, delivery, and monitoring of strategic priorities and demonstrate a sound understanding of the challenges that the VCSE organisations face.

To be successful in the role, candidates must be strategic and analytical thinkers with financial acumen, able to turn ideas into action while demonstrating empathy with VAL’s values, aims, and objectives. 

Candidates should possess excellent presentation and people skills, with an inclusive and self-assured communication style. Resilience, strength of character, flexibility, and the ability to prioritise complex situations, together with drive and determination, are also essential.
